New Preschool After-School Program At CCSD Will Address Daycare Needs Of Families In The District

The Carroll Community School District (CCSD) will implement a new preschool after-school program to accommodate the needs of the district’s families. The new Little Tiger Wrap-Around program will provide a quality space for children to stay through the afternoon, serving as an alternative to daycare services by allowing the students to stay at Fairview Elementary when the preschool morning session ends at 11:00 a.m. Fairview Principal Sue Ruch says this program will alleviate parents’ need to take off work or find a sitter to watch their students.

This program would be licensed under the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Ruch says eight children are signed up right now, and they would be willing to accept more, but they are looking at starting off small to work through the first year of implementation.

Something to note that Ruch wants parents to be made aware of is that students will not be transported home by the district and will have to be picked up by a parent or guardian. Lunch would cost the same as an elementary student at $2.80, with families potentially qualifying for free or reduced meals. The program is looking to have fees of $25 a day for preschool days from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with $30 for full days on Mondays when there is no preschool and on conference days, with drops off as early as 7:40 a.m. Fees will be paid on a monthly or weekly basis. Anyone interested in registering their preschool student for the Little Tigers Wrap-Around program should contact Ruch at SRuch@carrolltigers.org or by calling 712-792-8030.
