SCC Superintendent Shared Updates Students And Staff Can Expect This Upcoming Year

The South Central Calhoun (SCC) Community School District is ready to bring its A-game, the “theme” for the 2024-25 school year, with new policies and staff to continue promoting a positive environment. Superintendent Brad Anderson is counting down the days to welcome students and staff back after the summer break. Anderson says he is incredibly excited to welcome several new staff members to the district this year.

When school starts back in session on Aug. 23, Anderson says some renovations and updates have been completed to ensure the buildings stay well maintained.

Anderson says a priority for the administrators and the school board this year is to create a facility master plan for the district. A company from Des Moines has been selected through the Iowa Association of School Boards (IASB) to assist with this process.

The biggest change this year will be implementing a no-cell phone policy during the school day in the district. Anderson reassures that the staff and administrators are fully prepared for this change and ready to handle any challenges that may arise to provide the best overall learning experience possible.

Anderson says a new school year is always an exciting time. He looks forward to celebrating with the open house scheduled from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at all buildings and the District Kick-Off Day on the 23, with the first day of classes and the Fall Gatorade Scrimmages that evening. Everyone is welcome to attend cheer, volleyball, and football practices with the free-will donation of Gatorade or water for student-athletes to use during the fall sports season from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. that night.
