Carroll City Council Highlights Before/After Work At Fairview Village Apartments

fairview-before-after

Carroll city officials highlighted renovation work at the Fairview Village Apartments during last night’s (Monday) meeting, showcasing the stark difference between its current and previous owners. MW Capital Group 2 LLC purchased four of the five buildings from Carlson Property Holdings and Management earlier this year and has gotten to work gutting the dilapidated interiors and refinishing them with modern amenities. Carroll Fire Chief and Building Department Director Dan Hannasch says their finished units are a night-and-day difference from how they were before.

Each of the 70-plus units is scheduled to be overhauled. Only a handful have been finished so far, and it will take some time before they can access all of them, especially considering around half a dozen units are still occupied. Hannasch and Mayor Jerry Fleshner say the change is impressive, considering how squalid things were.

The council did not take any formal action following the presentation. However, officials did note MW Capital Group 2’s work so far and will consider that when the company returns to the council next year to apply for workforce housing tax credits from the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA). The company is expected to invest around $800,000 in renovating the interior and exterior of the complex.
