The City of Audubon has been awarded a $530,000 grant to construct new apartments, addressing the need for housing around the town. The Community Development Block Grant from the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) will create three low to moderate-income (LMI) housing units above the Sam’s Barber Shop at 226 Broadway St. The total cost for the project is expected to be around $849,500, with the city looking to obtain the remaining $319,500 in private loans. City officials thank Region XII Council of Governments (COG) for their assistance with the successful grant application process. The construction of the apartments is slated to begin in the next week or so.
