Market, Meals, And Music Will Be Thursday Evening In Manning, Premiering Originally Documentary On The Community

Main Street Manning will be hosting an event full of fun for the entire family tomorrow (Thursday) night, promoting shopping and eating at local businesses. Market, Meals, and Music will take place on Main Street in Manning from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., featuring food trucks, a bounce house for the kids, an outdoor vendor fair, and local businesses extending evening hours to accommodate for shopping. Executive Director for Main Street Manning Jean Voege (vay-ge) says the night’s highlight will be the premiere of a documentary about the Manning community.

The two men working on the project have been previous Mandela fellows in Manning for the past couple of years. Arnold “SoProfound” Chirimika, who served as the director and producer Jack Chimbetete wanted to capture Manning’s stand-out story of how this 1500 population town continues.

The City of Manning has participated in the Mandela Fellows Program since 2016. The city partnered with Drake University, which was selected to host individuals from Sub-Saharan Africa, offering academic and leadership training in agriculture, society, education, healthcare, and more. Voege says this program started with the Obama Administration, and the Manning community has been blessed to have worked with the fellows for the past eight years.

Again, “1500: The Story of Manning” will be premiered during Market, Meals, and Music tomorrow (Thursday) night at 8:00 p.m. Voege encourages families to come out before that for a night of shopping, food, and entertainment starting at 4:30 p.m. A link with more details on the event and a trailer for the documentary are included below.
