Classes Begin For CR-B Students Friday, Aug. 23

The Coon Rapids-Bayard Community School District (CR-B) dives into the start of a new school year at the end of next week, and staff is in the final days of preparing for classrooms and hallways to be filled with students after the summer break. CR-B welcomes a new superintendent this year, Tom Ridder, who is shared with the Glidden-Ralson Community School District. His contract began July 1, and he has spent the last two months learning as much as he can about the Crusaders.

Ridder says it was busy around the school over the summer, even before he arrived, as a number of improvement projects were completed while the building was mostly empty.

He notes there weren’t any noteworthy policy changes for students or parents for the new year. Ridder says he’s pleased to report that the district is very close to being fully staffed.

Teachers report next week for professional development and to ready their classrooms for the start of classes on Friday, Aug. 23. Families are invited to tour the school, meet their teachers, and drop of supplies during the Crusaders’ open house on Wednesday, Aug. 21 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. With just over a week left before classes start, Ridder encourages parents to start getting their kids adjusted to getting up earlier than they might have grown used to over the summer break. Again, classes at CR-B begin on Friday, Aug. 23. Keep up with the Crusaders using their website at www.crbcrusaders.org.
