City Of Glidden Sidewalk-Cost-Share Program Has Around $20,000 Still Available For Sidewalk Repair Projects

Glidden’s City Council has approved three sidewalk projects to participate in the city’s cost-share program, encouraging more residents to apply while funding is still available. The program, which started in July, promotes updating run-down sidewalks or installing new sidewalks in locations where a current path is not established. City Administrator Brooke Peterson says there has been a lot of interest in the program, as almost a third of the allocated funding has already been earmarked.

The city council agreed to fund portions of the projects to incentivize residents by offsetting the costs of replacing or constructing a sidewalk. Peterson says while the council could decide to allocate more funding in the next fiscal year, she encourages residents to apply before it becomes their sole responsibility.

To participate, apply for a building permit and submit estimates from contractors for the project. If approved, once the sidewalk is complete, the city will reimburse the individual the established amount. Those with additional questions are asked to contact Peterson at city hall by calling 712-659-3010.
