Main Street Coon Rapids Celebrates Five-Year Anniversary

Representatives from Main Street Coon Rapids provided an update this (Monday) morning to the Carroll County Board of Supervisors, highlighting the group’s effort to grow and improve Coon Rapids. Today (Monday) marked the fifth anniversary of the community earning its Main Street designation. Executive Director Katie Mason says they’ve leveraged that into substantial grant awards and private investment into Coon Rapids.

Mason pointed to several significant highlights for Main Street Coon Rapids in the last year. In her opinion, adopting a formal downtown design guide is one of the biggest.

Mason also noted the success of their mini-grant program for façade improvements and signage updates. She says the recent introduction of a $10,000 startup grant program has led to two new businesses in town.

Mason adds Main Street Coon Rapids also contributes to the town’s perceived vitality, like bringing the Culpepper and Merriweather Circus to town on Aug. 27, being a host city for the Evolution of the Heartland agri-tourism program, or the fall harvest party on Sept. 14. Main Street Coon Rapids is constantly implementing new programming and activities to engage and strengthen the community. Stay in touch by following them on Facebook or visiting their website.
