Carroll County ISU Extension And Outreach Hosting Stay Independent Series At Carroll Public Library This Fall

Carroll County Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach is partnering again with the Carroll Public Library to return the Stay Independent series for adults aged 60 plus this fall. Four classes will be offered on Mondays from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Carroll Public Library starting on Sept. 9 through Oct. 7., focusing on different topics for aging adults to stay healthy and emphasizing independence. The first class on Sept. 9 will be about brain health, exploring the MIND diet recommendations to eat well and keep the brain sharp. On Sept. 16,” Feast on Fruits and Vegetables” will dive into different recipes to include produce in every meal. The third class is “Power Up with Protein” on Sept. 23, discussing the food sources containing protein and how to incorporate them into diets. The last class on Oct. 7 is “Exercise Your Independence,” with simple workout ideas that can be part of everyday routines. This four-series class is offered at no cost to individuals.
