IEDA Awards Over $600,000 In Tax Credits To Four Local Housing Projects

Gov. Kim Reynolds and the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) announced over $37 million in workforce housing tax credits this week, including several in the listening area. The 62 selected projects are expected to create over 2,000 residential units, helping to meet the growing demand for housing. In Jefferson, Origin Homes will receive $90,000 in tax credits and $28,008 in sales tax refunds to aid in the construction of three new units. Region XII Council of Governments was selected to build a duplex in Manning and three new homes in Schleswig and Odebolt, receiving a combined $179,880 in financial support from the state between the two projects. The final local award went to Huegerich Construction Inc. for nine new units in Sac City, receiving $332,827 in total tax credits. Reynolds says, “As we grow our state, our housing supply needs to keep up with demand. Iowans who live near their jobs often become more invested in their communities, and that both strengthens local economies and attracts new residents.” Of the $37 million available to be awarded this year, $20 million was awarded to projects in small communities. A complete list of the recipients is included below.
