The Homes for Iowa spec house has arrived in Glidden and is awaiting to be placed on the foundation to give another option for affordable housing in the community. Last spring, the Glidden City Council approved donating a lot in a subdivision that has sat vacant for 15 years to Region XII Council of Governments (COG) for a two-bedroom, one-bath home to be constructed and delivered to Glidden through the HFI program. This opportunity has been made possible through financial assistance from the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) Workforce Housing Tax Credit program. The house will be placed on the foundation next week and hooked up to utilities. Once completed, the house will be available for purchase.
