Robert Beyerink

Robert Beyerink, 76 of Carroll, died early Saturday morning, August 24, 2024 at his residence in Carroll surrounded by his family.
A private family Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church – St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Patrick Behm. Music will be by Kathy Halbur. Lector for the Funeral Mass will be Mary O’Conner Kenkel. Gift Bearers and Casket Bearers will be Bob’s grandchildren. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Dedham American Legion.

Born on June 21, 1948 in Carroll, Iowa, Robert was the son of Norbert and Patricia (Rhoades) Beyerink. He grew up in Maple River and later graduated from Carroll High School in 1966. Bob entered the United States Marine Corps in 1967 and served during Vietnam until his honorable discharge.
On October 25, 1969, Bob was united in marriage to Barbara Sturm. The couple made their home in Carroll, later moving to Vail for many years before returning to Carroll in 2020. Throughout his working career, Bob was employed with Farmland Foods and Farner-Bocken for over 30 years, retiring in 2017.
Bob loved fishing, picnics at the lake, family time and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of St. John Paul II Parish and Dedham American Legion.
Left to celebrate his life is his wife Barbara Beyerink of Carroll; his children: Brett (Lisa) Beyerink of Dedham, Brenda Beyerink (Elijah Reels) of Carroll, Brandy (Joe) Berg of Arcadia, and Brad Beyerink (Ashley Halsted) of Carroll; his daughter-in-law, Mary Beyerink of Manning; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; his brother, Jim Beyerink of Minnesota; his sisters: Mary (Roger) Matlock of Minnesota, Nancy (Hank) Frisch of Minnesota, and Karen Thompson (Rob Hossler) of Arizona; his sister-in-law, Mary Sturm of Carroll; his brothers-in-law, Dick (Mavis) Sturm of Colorado, and Neil Kenkel of Minnesota; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Brian Beyerink; his parents-in-law, Frank and Lucy Sturm; his sister-in-law, Bernie Kenkel; and his brother-in-law, Don Sturm.
