Peggy Lee Eason, age 86, of Scranton, IA, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 26, 2024 at Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids, IA.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at the Scranton United Methodist Church with Rev. Kevin Evers officiating.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 – 10:45 A.M. prior to the service at the Scranton United Methodist Church in Scranton.

Peggy was born on March 4, 1938 in Woodward, IA, the second of eight children. She was the daughter of William Larry and Jennie Mae (Noland) Troutman. Peggy attended the Evergreen Country School during her elementary years, walking over a mile to school. She graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1956 and then attended nurses training at St. Anthony School of Nursing in Carroll. Peggy was married to Robert W. Eason on September 27, 1958 at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, IA. Peggy and Bob had three children: Curtis, Linda, and Patricia (Trish) and Peggy’s brother David lived with the family through high school. She was an active member of the Scranton United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Peggy was active in her community as a Girl Scout leader, a special memory was her trip to Mexico with the Cadet group, Cub Scout Leader, and Philemon Club. She served on the Greene County Medical Center Hospital Board. Peggy loved watching her grandchildren participate in their activities and enjoyed watching sports on television.
Peggy is survived by her husband Robert “Bob” Eason of Scranton; son Curtis Eason (Angela) of Scranton; daughter Linda Schroeder (David) of Coon Rapids; and a son-in-law: Kevin Skalla (Nancy) of Willmar, MN. Peggy is also survived by her grandchildren: Frank Tenborg (Jenny ), Jason Tenborg (Tom), Joseph Tenborg (Chrystal), Steven Tenborg (Sarah); Justin Schroeder (Courtney), Brent Schroeder (Amanda), Ryan Schroeder (Lexi), Lauren Leuck (Brett), Megan Skalla (Dominick Territo), and Emily Bloomquist (Sam); a sister Mary Muench (Merle) of Hastings, MN; a brother David Troutman (Roxanne) of Yale, IA, a brother-in-law Gerald “Butch” Golwitzer of Dedham; and a sister-in-law Beth Troutman of Dedham & 20 great-grandchildren and many other extended family.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents William Larry and Jennie Mae (Noland) Troutman; her father and mother-in-law Wendell and Jewell Eason; her daughter Trish Skalla in 2005; two sisters: Carol Golwitzer and Janice Fryman; three brothers: Larry Troutman, Gary Troutman, and Michael Troutman; in-laws: Irma Troutman, Audrey Troutman, and Jane Eason Maulin; and a nephew Jarret Golwitzer.
