Iowans Can Now Begin Requesting Absentee Ballots For Nov. 5 Election

Ballot

Nov. 5 is just over two months away, and Iowa election officials are already readying themselves for what is expected to be a high-participation Election Day. Yesterday (Tuesday) was the first day Iowans could request an absentee ballot from their respective auditor’s office. While requests can be submitted now, Oct. 16 is the first day officials can mail those ballots. Oct. 16 is also the first day for eligible voters to absentee vote in person at their county’s auditor’s office. Oct. 21 is the last day election officials can mail absentee ballots, and Nov. 4 is the final day for Iowans to absentee vote in person at the auditor’s office. Ballots must be in the possession of a voter’s home auditor’s office by the time polls close at 9 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 5. Iowans with additional questions about absentee voting can contact their county’s auditor’s office for more information.
