The Memorial Service for James Deuel, age 85 of Lake City, IA, will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at the Woodlawn Christian Church in Lake City, Iowa. The burial will take place in the Lake City Cemetery with Military Honors.  A visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Lampe and Powers Funeral Home of Lake City, Iowa is in charge of these arrangements.

   James Deuel, age 85 of Lake City, IA, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Accura Healthcare of Lake City, IA. James Harrison Deuel was born on March 31, 1938, to parents Irving and Evelyn (Fuller) Deuel in Lake City. He grew up in the Lake City/ Lohrville area where he attended Country school and later graduated from West View High School in Lake City. After graduation, James enlisted to serve his country on January 4, 1957, in the United States Air Force. He served in the United States during Peacetime earning the rank of A2C E-3. He was honorably discharged in 1963.

James was united in marriage to Diana Riley and was blessed with five children: Susan, Timothy, Cynthia, Sandra, and Jennifer. They were later divorced. James had many jobs throughout his life including farming, auto mechanic, truck driving, school bus driver, school maintenance, maintenance for Marin County, and oil refinery. He was a member of the Lion’s Club and Legion and was very involved with his church. James was a member of the Woodlawn Christian Church where he was a Deacon and Elder. In his free time, you could find James reading, working on models, and puzzles, and enjoying the outdoors. James was a family man and family was his top priority. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Susan LeMire of Santa Rosa, CA, Timothy Deuel of Petaluma, CA, Cynthia Deuel of Santa Rosa, CA, Sandra Deuel of Lake City, IA, and Jennifer (Tony) Albini of Sonoma, CA; grandchildren: Brandon LeMire, Brent LeMire, Anthony Albini, Samantha (Alex) Pulley; siblings: Shirley Miller and Linda Ames; sister-in-law Lavonne Deuel; several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

James was preceded in death by his parents Evelyn and Irving Deuel, siblings Kenneth(infant), Donald, and Janice, and brothers-in-law Randy and Norman.
