The Featherstone Memorial Park at Twin Lakes is soon to undergo renovations to continue meeting the needs of camping enthusiasts wishing to spend leisure time in Calhoun County. Curtis Vanderheiden, director of the Calhoun County Conservation Board, says camping is not just tents and small pop-up campers anymore, and the campgrounds need to be updated to keep up with the changing times.

Vanderheiden says the board discussed starting the renovation projects around seven years ago but really pushed forward with the idea after seeing a large increase in campers after the COVID-19 pandemic. While there is much more planned, Vanderheiden says it all depends on the county’s budget.

Phase one of the project is currently in the bidding process but is expected to be completed by May of next year, just in time for everyone to come out and enjoy what Featherstone Memorial Park has to offer.
