Harry Rose, age 96, of Carroll, IA, passed away Friday, August 30, 2024 at Addington Place of Carroll.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lidderdale with Pastor Paul Ferderer officiating. Organist for the service will be Ed Ludwig. Casket bearers will be Chad Steinkamp, Ron Wenck, Gary Tiefenthaler, Bruce Bruhn, Rodney Hansen, and Mark Stokes. Burial will be in the Westside Cemetery with military honors by the Carroll American Legion.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 5 – 7 P.M. The casket will be moved to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lidderdale at 9:30 A.M. on Wednesday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Addington Place, The Carroll American Legion, or Gentiva Hospice.

Harry was born on May 22, 1928 on his family’s farm near Arcadia, IA. He was the son on Christ and Louise (Meyers) Rose. He attended rural school in Carroll County and helped his father farm. His family moved to the Glidden area where he continued helping them farm until entering the Army in 1951 serving two years during the Korean conflict stationed in France. Harry was married to Florence Dreessen on April 12, 1952 during his military service. Upon his honorable discharge in 1953 he returned to Iowa and worked for Snappy Popcorn for one year. He then farmed near Audubon until December of 1957 when they moved to the Glidden area and farmed. In 1986 they moved to their Carroll farm on Highway 30 where he farmed and dealt in farm machinery sales. Florence passed away in 2019 and Harry continued living on the farm until moving to Addington Place in July of 2024 where he received excellent care. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lidderdale and the Carroll American Legion.
Harry is survived by a daughter Margie Martinez of Greeley, CO; a son Dale (Janea) of Carroll; a grandson Joseph Martinez (Maria) of Colorado; a sister Louise Bruhn (Bill) of Manning and several nieces and nephews.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents Christ and Louise Rose; his father and mother-in-law George and Helga Dreessen; three sisters: Gladys Hansen (Virgil), Bernice Paxton (Lee), and Lorna Knute (Lester), and his wife Florence.
