A Sac City man accused of child sexual abuse has been ordered to serve 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to the charges levied against him. According to Sac County District Court records, 67-year-old Keith Clayton Mesner was arrested in July 2022 following a Sac City Police Department investigation that found Mesner had committed a sex act with a minor female victim in November 2021. Mesner submitted his guilty plea to one count of third-degree sexual abuse, a class C felony, on July 17, and the 10-year prison sentence was handed down during an Aug. 30 hearing. In addition to the prison term, Mesner will be required to register with the Iowa Sex Offender registry for the remainder of his life. His appeal bond has been set at $25,000. Sac County Attorney Ben Smith prosecuted the case, and the Sac County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation that led to Mesner’s arrest.
