Iowa HHS To Award MCO Contract To Iowa Total Care

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced its intent to award a Managed Care Organization (MCO) contract to Iowa Total Care. This contract, set to begin on July 1, 2025, ensures that Iowa Total Care will continue providing Medicaid services without any changes in operations. Iowa Total Care has been serving Iowa Medicaid members since 2019. The new contract aligns the contract cycles of all three MCOs, Iowa Total Care, Molina, and Wellpoint Iowa, Inc., with a unified end date of June 30, 2031. HHS Director Kelly Garcia says, “Providing access to quality health care is critical and a cornerstone of our work at Iowa HHS. Iowa Total Care has demonstrated a commitment to continuous quality improvement and innovation—making them a valued partner for Iowa Medicaid. We are pleased to award Iowa Total Care with this contract as they continue to meet the needs of Iowans and deliver essential medical services.” Medicaid members will continue to receive their benefits without any changes. Iowans will be able to change their health plan during the annual open choice enrollment period in spring 2025.
