Hospice Of The Midwest Holding “Tailgate” Food Drive Friday

Hospice of the Midwest will celebrate the big game this weekend by hosting a tailgate-themed food drive tomorrow (Friday) afternoon. Staff members will be sitting outside the Carroll Hy-Vee from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. collecting food and cash donations for the New Opportunities in Carroll to help supply the food pantry that serves in-need community residents. Susie Kennebeck-Thelen, community liaison and family consultant for Hospice of the Midwest says in this line of work, it’s all about giving back, and the team is looking to extend a helping hand out further than just for their patients.

The cart with the most donations will be deemed the “winner.” Kennebeck-Thelen was inspired to host a food drive after visiting New Opportunities and touring the pantry.

Kennebeck-Thelen is asking for the community’s help by donating some of the more popular items requested from the New Opportunities food pantry and filling the cart for the team you will be rooting for this weekend.

On average, the New Opportunities food pantry assists 12 families throughout Carroll County, with a record of 17 families in one day. Kennebeck-Thelen is encouraging all who can fill the carts to continue helping families in the area.

Again, the Hospice of the Midwest “tailgate” food drive will be tomorrow (Friday) afternoon from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Carroll Hy-Vee. The hospice team looks forward to seeing everyone come out to help however they can.
