A Carroll County family’s 4th annual sunflower-themed fundraiser has collected over $13,000 to be donated to the St. Anthony Regional Cancer Center. Since 2021, the Nepples have hosted Sunflowers: Share Light & Give Hope at Mark and Tami Nepple’s farm east of Mt. Carmel. This year’s event was held on Aug. 4, with supporters showing up in droves to snag a bouquet of fresh-cut sunflowers for a free-will donation, purchase handmade crafts, and bid on silent auction items. The fundraiser started initially as a tribute to members of the Nepple family who had previously been diagnosed with cancer. Following the 2024 event, Sunflowers: Share Light & Give Hope has now surpassed $45,000 raised for the St. Anthony Regional Cancer Center. They donated $9,000 in its first year, $11,000 in its second year, and more than $12,000 in its third year. St. Anthony uses the funds to provide much-needed assistance to patients and families undergoing treatment at the facility.
