Gov. Reynolds Orders Flags To Be Flown At Half-Staff On Monday For Identified Iowa Soldier Killed At Pearl Harbor

Gov. Kim Reynolds has ordered all flags to be flown at half-staff on Monday in honor of a fallen Pearl Harbor sailor from Iowa. Navy Fireman First Class Everett C. Titterington was just 21 years old, stationed onboard the USS Oklahoma when it capsized during multiple torpedo hits on Dec. 7, 1941. Scientists have been using advanced technology to assist in identifying the remains of the sailors lost at Pearl Harbor, discovering Titterington, who was originally from Milford. His burial services will be held Monday at Riverside National Cemetery in California. All flags on the State Capitol Building, flag display in the Capitol Complex, and on public buildings grounds and facilities throughout the state will be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset. Individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, and other government subdivisions are encouraged to fly the flag at half-staff for the same length of time as a sign of respect.
