The City of Manning is celebrating creativity and art by hosting the “Encounter with the Arts” festival next weekend. Final preparations are underway for the day’s events, set for Saturday, Sept. 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Zion Lutheran Church’s parking area off of Center Street. The event will feature art exhibitors, food trucks, and live music, with special activities planned for children. A mural designed by a local artist, Mai Reitan, was unveiled this week for the community paint project, which invites volunteers of all ages to help paint the concrete wall along Manning’s walking trail. The popular project returns after a successful run in 2023. The festival will also include prize drawings every 30 minutes, with prizes valued at $50 each. Attendees must register for the drawings at the Zion tent and be present to win. Children can enjoy a special blue tent hosted by Zion Lutheran Church, where they can create personal art projects and receive gift bags.
