Whiterock Conservancy Hosts Final “Iowa Rocks!” Program On Soils This Weekend

Whiterock Conservancy will conclude its summer “Iowa Rocks!” program series this weekend with a session focused on the importance of soils. Led by Dr. Kata McCarville, an associate professor of geology at Minot State University, the free event will take place at the Bur Oak Visitor Center from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14. The program explores Iowa’s diverse and vital soils, which play a major role in supporting agriculture, regulating water supplies, and protecting water quality. Attendees can also participate in a hands-on activity to create an edible model of soil horizons. This event is free and open to the public.
