The Parks and Rec Department for the City of Audubon has completed the addition of new amenities to three parks throughout the community. Officials wish to extend a special thanks to the 100+ Women Who Care for help funding the new zip line installed this week at the Blue Grass Park, also known as the Dinosaur Park. Other projects included installing water drinking fountains with a bottle refill station at Blue Grass Park, Legion Park, and City Square, allowing residents to enjoy the park while staying hydrated. The water fountains at the City Square are a bit different, with a unique feature of a dog bowl for community members to give their pets a drink while walking. City officials want to thank Sonntag Plumbing, Meaike Construction, and the many individuals who assisted in installing the water fountains in the parks. The Parks and Rec Department is continuing with plans for future projects, as the city council just approved them to enter the city into a contest through Bobcat to potentially win $100,000 for park improvement projects. Voting for the contest opens Oct. 3, so city officials ask community members to look for the link when it becomes available.
