Eighteen Buena Vista University (BVU) Students, three from the listening area, have been selected to receive the Clifford A. Rae Academic Achievement Award for the 2024 year. This achievement award is part of a competitive program that gives business and science students who excel in their academic studies up to $10,000 in scholarship funding in their second, third, or fourth year of school. The money is then used to help offset costs associated with completing an internship or experiential learning initiative. Riley Parkis from Carroll, who is studying for an exercise science major, and Alexander Galati from Manning, who is pursuing computer science, are second-year winners. From Ida Grove, Lillian Hoffman is a fourth-year winner working towards a biology major. The Clifford A. Rae Award was created 13 years ago by two separate endowments of $750,000 from the Siebens Foundation, named after the longtime advisor and council to the foundation, Clifford A. Rae. Students may receive the award more than once during their time at BVU to provide learning opportunities they would otherwise not be able to experience.
