According to the latest report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) and AAA-Iowa, gas prices fell below three dollars over the past week. As of Wednesday, Sept. 18, Iowa’s average price for a gallon of unleaded gasoline fell nine cents to $2.97. That is 87 cents below prices that were seen this time last year. Iowa is still less than the national average, which is around $3.22 per gallon, down three cents from last week. In retail diesel prices, the average in Iowa fell five cents to $3.34 per gallon, which is $1.00 less than prices in 2023. The national average for retail diesel is $3.60 per gallon, 26 cents more than prices around the state. Wholesale ethanol remained unchanged at $2.16 per gallon. Natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site fell one cent to $2.31 per MMBut.
