The City of Lake City is looking for volunteer artists to help design the new banners that will be placed on light poles around the town. The council reviewed a presentation by Signarama to replace the damaged banners from the 2020 derecho. The new proposed 24 by 36-inch banners are made out of an 18-ounce vinyl material that is stronger and more resistant to strong winds. Signarama did mention they have an in-house graphic designer, but City Administrator Jacob Matthews says the council wanted to keep the inspiration behind the design local.
Matthews says anyone is welcome to submit a design showcasing Lake City’s pride on these banners that will be placed around the town square and on major roads leading into the community. He says it’s a super simple process to submit a design idea.
The city council will review all designs submitted during the Oct. 21 meeting. The number of banners purchased will be based on the number of designs submitted and approved. Again, please email any designs wishing to be considered for the new Lake City banners to Matthews by Oct. 17 at 12 p.m.
