Beginning next week, the City of Lake City will be conducting its semi-annual hydrant flushing procedures. Crews will be out working from Monday through Friday, and officials advise residents to be aware of the possibility of discoloration or lower water pressure during flushing. Rust or darker-colored water could lead to potential issues when washing clothes. Residents who experience discoloration can turn on their faucets, particularly ones nearest the main, and allow them to run until water returns to normal. Drinking water systems regularly flush their mains to maintain water quality and clear any particulate that may have accumulated in the mains.
