The City of Manning had a very successful weekend, raising over $8,000 for continued projects and updates to the city park. In July 2022, community members, city officials, and the Manning Park Improvement Committee held a kick-off event for the Refresh the Park project, with a fundraising goal of $250,000 for new playground equipment, rubber surfacing, new courts, and more. Work began for the installation of the new playground equipment in May of this year and was finished in time for Manning’s annual Kinderfest festival. City Administrator Dawn Meyer says crews from the City of Manning and Manning Municipal Utilities have already done a lot of the work, but they are not stopping there.

With projects still to be completed, organizations, businesses, and community members continue to step up and raise funding.

Between the silent auction at the adult homecoming party and the free-will donation for lunch at the ribbon-cutting ceremony, over $8,000 was raised. The Manning Rec Center previously held a pickleball tournament to fundraise for the multi-use court constructed at the city park. The park master plan is set to be rolled out next month. Those still wishing to help can join the next fundraising event for the Refresh the Park project, a soup supper following Manning’s trick-or-treat night on Oct. 27.
