Rose McDonald of Scranton

Rose Marie McDonald, age 70, of Scranton, IA, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024 at Mercy One Medical Center in Des Moines, IA.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, September 27, 2024 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton with J.B. Hinote officiating. Honorary casket bearers will be Brian Burris, Timothy Sullivan, Jeremy Johns and Chad Kirk. Burial will be in Scranton Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 -10:15 A.M. prior to the service at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Homes in Scranton.

Rose was born on September 28, 1953 in Jefferson, IA, and was the daughter Jack and Junita (Clingan) Beebe. Rose attended the Jefferson Community Schools in Jefferson graduating with the High School Class of 1972. After graduation, she attended Des Moines Area Community College in Boone for a short time. On June 16, 1973 she was united in marriage to Richard Leonard McDonald at the catholic parsonage in Jefferson. They were blessed with four sons: Christopher, Tracy, Steven, and John. She was employed at Scranton Manufacturing in the office for a short time until her boys were born and then was a homemaker raising the boys. She then was employed at the eggplant in Glidden. She later worked for J.C. Penny’s and The Carrollton in Carroll until she was forced to retire due to health issues. Rose enjoyed coloring especially adult coloring books with Tweety Bird being one of her favorites. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and attending garage sales and auctions with her family. But most of all she cherished the time spent with her granddaughter, Chelsie.

Rose is survived by her husband Richard McDonald of Scranton; sons: Christopher (Angela) McDonald of Auburn, Tracy (Kristina) McDonald of Scranton, and John McDonald of Scranton; granddaughter Chelsie Warne and husband of Maxwell, IA; 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Everett (Bert) Beebe of Jefferson; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Rose was preceded in death by her son Steven McDonald; and her parents.
