Last week, St. Rose of Lima Parish in Denison unveiled a replica of Michaelangelo’s Pietà as part of its “Witness His Glory” capital campaign to overhaul its worship space. The $2 million campaign officially got underway earlier this month, but changes are already coming to the St. Rose Church. On Friday, Fr. Michael Cronin and parishioners gathered to bless and appreciate the new artwork. The Pietà replica, located in the church’s narthex, is one of only 100 marble replicas produced by the Arte Divine Company, which is associated with the Vatican Museums. Michaelangelo completed the original Pieta in 1499, and it is considered one of the famed sculptor’s masterpieces. Work on the church’s revitalization is expected to finish by fall 2025.
