After weeks of declines, gas prices in Iowa are on the rise again, according to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) and AAA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, Sept. 25, the price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.04, a seven-cent increase from last week and 67 cents below prices from a year ago. The national average on Wednesday was down one cent to $3.21 per gallon. There was almost no movement in the Iowa retail diesel market, which held steady with a $3.34 per gallon average. Prices are nearly a whole dollar lower than the $4.32 average from last year. The national average was 25 cents higher than local prices at $3.59 per gallon. Wholesale ethanol was unchanged from $2.16 per gallon. In heating fuels, natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site spiked 52 cents to $2.83 per MMBtu.
