The preliminary hearing for a Gowrie man accused of killing a Farnhamville teen last weekend has been scheduled for Oct. 4. Twenty-one-year-old Nathaniel Kyren Bevers-McGivney is charged with first-degree murder, a class A felony, and abuse of a corpse—failure to disclose known location, a class D felony, in connection to the death of 17-year-old Michelle “Luna” Jackson. Jackson was reported missing on the evening of Sunday, Sept. 22, and Bevers-McGivney was identified as the primary suspect after her family found him “covered in apparent blood” while searching for her. Authorities say the alleged murder occurred in the Farnhamville City Park, and Bevers-McGivney had used a knife to cut the girl’s throat with premeditation and specific intent to kill. Police allege Bevers-McGivney then moved the body in an attempt to conceal the crime. On Tuesday, his attorney filed a notice of invocation of constitutional rights, indicating Bevers-McGivney intends to remain silent throughout the legal process and have a lawyer present during interactions with investigators and prosecutors. He remains in custody at the Carroll County jail and is being held without bond. The charges carry a maximum penalty of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
