Jill was born on September 19, 1976 to Stephen and Rosalie Greiman in Albert Lea, Minnesota.  She was raised in Lake Mills, Iowa, graduating from Lake Mills High School in 1995.  She was captain of the flag team, active in band, and spent many summers lifeguarding at the pool in Lake Mills.

She went on to study education at Iowa State University, graduating in 2000.  She spent 17 years working with students as a teacher and eventually Dean of Students at Goodrell Middle School in Des Moines, Iowa.  Her family lead her to Carroll, Iowa in 2018, where she was actively serving as the Vice Principal of Carroll Middle School.

Jill married Tyler Gustafson in Scarville, Iowa on February 23, 2019.  The family spent their first few days post wedding, enjoying each other’s company while stuck in what happened to be one of the worst blizzards in decades.

Jill’s passion for life was apparent in everything she pursued. Teaching was her passion, but she knew no stranger, and believed anyone could succeed.  She was an advocate for all students, young and old, and their families.

When she wasn’t working with students and faculty, she could be found supporting the loves of her life, her children Claire and Aden, and her niece and nephew Bryce and Jersey.  She spent many weekends with her family in Nebraska at the cabin or cheering on the Huskers football team.  Despite her time spent in Nebraska, she was always cheering for Iowa State as well.

Left to celebrate her life include her loving husband Tyler, children Claire and Aden; her parents Stephen and Rosalie Greiman, sister Christine and husband Chris Budach, children Bryce and Jersey all of Lake Mills, IA;  in-laws Alan and Jeri Gustafson of Urbandale, IA, Rachel and Eric Krofta, children Kani, Ash, and Cait of Ames, IA; and Aleece and Bailey, children Grae and Mara of Council Bluffs, IA.

She was proceeded in death by her grandparents, Walter and Dorothy Greiman of Kirksville, MO; William and Esther Gentz of Northwood, IA; and cousin, Jeff Gentz of Forest City, IA.

In lieu of flowers, Jill’s passion for education and her students can continue to live through donations to the CCSD foundation, an academic booster supporting students at Carroll Community Schools.  Memorial donations may be mailed to Carroll Community Schools, PO Box 314, Carroll, IA 51401 or made online at https://chsfoundationk12.wixsite.com/chsf/donate
