Iowa Fuel Report: Oct. 2, 2024

Iowa gasoline prices dropped below three dollars per gallon in this week’s report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) and AAA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, Oct. 2, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was $2.99, down five cents from last week’s prices and 55 cents below prices from a year ago. The national average for gasoline on Wednesday was $3.20, down one cent from Sept. 25. As for Iowa diesel prices, the statewide average fell two cents to $3.32 per gallon, compared to $4.30 per gallon a year ago. Iowa prices remain 25 cents below the current national average of $3.57. Wholesale ethanol was unchanged from $2.16. In heating fuels, natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site were up 13 cents to $2.96 per MMBtu. IDALS will soon begin reporting heating oil and propane prices for the state.
