Governor Kim Reynolds orders all flags in Iowa to be flown at half-staff on Monday in honor of the first anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel. One year ago, 1,200 lives were lost, including at least 40 Americans in the attacks committed by the Iran-backed terrorist organization, with seven known Americans still being held hostage. Reynolds says, “The hearts of Iowans go out to the innocent Israeli families and American citizens killed by Hamas. Iran and its terrorist proxies continue to attack as Israeli forces fight to protect their people against the forces of evil. Iowa stands, as it always has, with Israel.” Flags are to be lowered to half-staff immediately on Monday until sunset on all public buildings, grounds, and facilities across Iowa. The flags on the State Capitol Building and on the flag display at the Capitol Complex will also be half-staffed. Individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, and other government subdivisions are encouraged to fly the flag at half-staff for the same length of time as a sign of respect.
