The Audubon Public Library invites all to come to community night to learn about tech safety and social media awareness. Kim Smith, an Ambassador with Share Hope International, will give a presentation sharing tips and resources on ways to speak to kids about safety online. Topics will include the importance of keeping private information protected, recognizing online predators, and how to talk about sexual exploitation and threats both online and in person. Smith will also discuss the consequences of sexting and sending inappropriate pictures, tips on how to set boundaries and what to do if asked to share sexual content, as well as sextortion or the threatening to reveal an individual’s sexual activity by demanding money or sexual favors and its relation to increased teen suicide. The presentation will take place on Wednesday at the library starting at 6:30 p.m. The event is free, and everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.
