The Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education met for its monthly work session Monday night to discuss building-level goals, the impact of the Area Education Agency (AEA) bill, and more. Board President Kristen Lundstrom opened the meeting with a statement to honor the district’s recent loss of Carroll Middle School Vice Principal Jill Greiman Gustafson and her lasting impact on CCSD. Administrators at all building levels then proceeded to discuss the goals their team has set for this coming school year in regards to the district’s set goals in student achievement, family, community, and connections and the plan to meet said goals. Following the goal discussion was an update on the impact of the AEA bill passed earlier this year, which showed that CCSD was unaware of how much of the 40 percent of educational services funding to the AEA went to serve the non-public school (Kuemper Catholic). Next, board members reviewed data from other school districts in the Rolling Valley Conference on their benefits package to administrators and directors after some controversy over whether the district should pay one hundred percent of premiums, which was had in a previous board meeting. The meeting ended with a discussion on the curriculum budget and the process of appointing a student board member to get more student representation in policies and programs implemented throughout the district. Carroll Broadcasting will bring you more on these topics in upcoming newscasts.
