Sac County is now added to the list of 54 counties in Iowa with an active burn ban in place. Effective today (Wednesday) at 3:00 p.m., open burning is prohibited through Sac County until further notice due to the dry land conditions. All seven counties in the listening area are now placed on burn bans until much-needed moisture is received to make spreading any fires less of a danger to life or property. Anyone in violation of this proclamation will be charged with a simple misdemeanor.
