District 11 House Candidate, Jeff Rich, Highlights Women’s Health Rights, Mental Health, And Education In Campaign

Jeff Rich of Glidden secured the Democratic Party’s nomination for the District 11 Iowa House of Representatives seat unchallenged and now faces Republican Craig Williams in the upcoming Nov. 5 election. Rich grew up in Glidden and spent much of his adult life in the Omaha area, working in construction before returning to care for family members. Rich says he sees the District 11 seat as an opportunity to give back to the place he grew up.

Public service is somewhat of a tradition in Rich’s family. His father, Lewis Rich, served on the Carroll County Board of Supervisors from 1972 to 1992, and his uncle, Carl Hamilton, was a U.S. Assistant Secretary of Agriculture during the Franklin and Truman administrations. Rich says there are many areas he’d like to see changes for from the Iowa legislature, but primarily women’s health rights, mental health access, and education.

Rich says his time spent volunteering in his community and working in construction has given him a set of skills that would be valuable as a representative.

Rich is running against former Republican State Senator Craig Williams of Manning in the Nov. 5 election for the District 11 seat. Rich and Williams are scheduled to appear at the Carroll Chamber of Commerce’s Oct. 15 forum at the Carroll Rec Center. Early voting in Iowa opens the following day on Oct. 16.
