Republican Nominee, Jason Schultz, Is Seeking Re-Election For District 6 Senate Seat

Current District 6 Senator Jason Schultz is seeking re-election in the position in the upcoming November election. Schultz, a Republican from Schleswig, has served Iowa for the past 15 years. His first term was with the Iowa House of Representatives from 2009 to 2015, then Iowa’s District 9 Senator before serving District 6. When asked why Schultz is continuing to want to represent Iowans for District 6, he says he feels he still has work that needs to be done.

Schultz has a history of serving the state and his community. He served as the fire chief for the Schleswig Fire Department for many years, the Iowa National Guard out of Denison, the Board of Elders for his church, and the steering committee setting up the county foundations to distribute gaming revenue to non-gaming counties. Schultz has lived his whole life in the Schleswig area, raising his two daughters with his wife, Amy, and being a part of a fifth-generation farm family.

Some of the issues that Schultz would like to continue to work on are solving the federal government’s unrestrained spending, securing the southern border, and decreasing the regulations the federal government sets on state agencies. Schultz says he is one of the few remaining senators who was there through the Republican trifecta, and he will continue to use his knowledge to move Iowa forward.

Schultz is running against Libertarian candidate David Davis, and both are expected to be at the Carroll Chamber of Commerce’s Oct. 15 forum. Early voting in Iowa opens on Oct. 16.
