Red Flag Warning In Effect For Listening Area Until Thursday Evening

A red flag warning has been issued for all the counties in the listening area until 7 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday). This warning is in effect due to multiple weather conditions that can contribute to fires spreading quickly. Such conditions in the area include strong wind gusts between 25 and 30 and up to 45 miles per hour (MPH), 20 to 25 percent humidity, and no rainfall, resulting in dry conditions. Numerous reports of field fires have been placed throughout the listening area, and farmers are asked to use caution if continuing harvesting to avoid igniting a fire or causing damage or harm to their crops, machinery, or themselves. All counties in the listening area are still in a burn ban until further notice, meaning open burning is prohibited until weather conditions improve. Those caught in violation of the burn ban order will be charged with a simple misdemeanor.
