Iowa Fuel Report: Oct. 16, 2024

Gas prices in Iowa crept back over the $3 mark in this week’s report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) and AAA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, Oct. 16, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was $3.01, a three-cent increase from last week but still 28 cents below prices from a year ago. The national average for gas on Wednesday was down one cent to $3.20 per gallon. As for Iowa retail diesel, prices rose six cents this week to $3.44 per gallon, compared to $4.23 this time last year. Iowa prices remain 17 cents lower than the national average of $3.61. Wholesale ethanol was unchanged from $2.16. In heating fuels, natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site fell 25 cents to $2.41 per MMBtu, propane prices fell three cents to a $1.54 per gallon average, while home heating oil prices rose five cents to $2.96 per gallon.
