Partnership 4 Families Continues To Support And Encourage Participation In Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library

Partnerships 4 Families is looking for donors to contribute to a program for children aged birth to five to receive a free book each month in the mail. Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library started in 1995, serving children in her home county. For nearly 30 years, the program has expanded into five countries and gives over two million books to children globally for free. Locally, children located in Audubon, Greene, Carroll, and Guthrie Counties have the opportunity to enroll. Partnership 4 Families Area Director Cindy Duhrkopf says a collaborative effort between three organizations helps to support Dolly’s mission of inspiring a love of reading.

Duhrkopf says that in order for the program to be implemented in the community, local efforts need to be made to contribute a small amount of funding. The more funding received, the more children can participate.

Duhrkopf’s email is p4fchildren@gmail.com. A donation of $26.40 supports one child for an entire year, while $132 supports a child for the whole program. Duhrkopf says there is an incentive for donors to contribute over a threshold.

Currently, 1,255 children in the four counties participate in the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, roughly half of the average population for ages birth through five. Duhrkopt strongly encourages all families to enroll their child(ren) today.
