Region XII Council of Governments will host a Lunch & Learn event this coming week showcasing successful implementation of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Derelict Building Grant Program. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23 in the Region XII offices at 1009 East Anthony St. in Carroll. Main Street Coon Rapids Executive Director Katie Mason will share insights into their project, detailing the entire process from start to finish, such as navigating the application process, managing projects, and diverting materials from landfills. DNR Derelict Building Grant Program Manager Reid Bermel will also be present to discuss the program’s benefits. He brings over 23 years of environmental experience to the table. Iowa Waste Exchange Resource Specialist Paige Alesch will assist attendees in identifying reusable materials and sustainable markets.
