DMU Reminding Denison Customers To Follow Steps To Conserve Water

dmu

Denison Municipal Utilities (DMU) staff and Board of Trustees want to remind residents in Denison that the water watch plan implemented last March is still in effect. Due to the extended dry spell and the increased demand for irrigation, recreation, and hydration usage, the water levels in the municipal well are dropping at a rate that could jeopardize essential water usage in the future. DMU Board of Trustees is asking Denison customers to initiate these steps to help conserve water in the wells. Residents should avoid watering lawns, shrubs, or gardens between 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., no filling swimming pools unless under 200 gallons, no water usage for nonessential cleaning, do not wash down streets, parking lots, driveways, etc., water only served at restaurants upon request of the customer, no washing cars at home, only run washing machines and dishwashers when full, check for leaks and shortening showers or filling bathtub only half full. If any customer is caught in violation of using excess water, a verbal or written warning will be given for the first violation; subsequent violations will have a $50 surcharge added to the customer’s water bill. Anyone with any additional questions is asked to contact Rory Weis, DMU General Manager, or Luke Gillmor, DMU Water Manager, using the contact points included below.
