CCSD Board Of Education Welcomes Lily Campbell And Clair Pudenz As First Student Board Members

During its Monday night meeting, the Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education welcomed the first student board members to serve as non-voting members. Seniors Lily Campbell and Claire Pudenz applied for the position earlier this year and went through an interview process with the superintendent and other administrators before being selected to represent the student body in the district. Campbell and Pudenz both participate in numerous activities outside of school, including cheerleading, the fall play, and more. Superintendent Dr. Casey Berlau says their role in the extracurricular activities will help reach more district students and get more opinions on different things happening. Both student representatives say peers have mentioned that they like how homecoming activities were planned during the school day, allowing more students to attend the events. Another positive notice would be the impact of the free student activity pass on attendance for home football games. Campbell is a cheerleader and has recently faced packed stadium stands with students who were not typically present for games. The student representatives will attend the CCSD Board of Education meeting on the third Monday of each month, reporting on students’ perspectives of things going well and maybe some suggestions for improvement. Campbell and Pudenz are honored to be selected for this role and look forward to continuing to help and represent all students in the district.
