 William “Bill” Harry Wenck, age 93, of Carroll, IA, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at his home in Carroll surrounded by his family.
     Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church – St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll with Fr. Patrick Behm as Celebrant.  Music for the Mass will be by Kathy Halbur and Kathleen Macke.  Eucharistic minister will be Cindy Wenck.  Lectors for the Mass will be Kelly Riesberg, Amy Hunziker, and Kari Bowman Leslie.  Gift bearers will be Amanda Johnson, Nikki Boock, Annie Loges, and Ashley McNeil.  Casket bearers will be Bill’s grandsons: Chad Bowman, Jeff Bowman, Rob Bowman, Jay Hausman, Charlie Wenck, Scott Sapp, Brad Sapp, Shane Sapp, Jess Hausman, and Noah Leist.  Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
     A Rosary will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll at 4:30 P.M. on Wednesday followed by visitation from 5 – 7 P.M.  The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church at 9:30 A.M. on Wednesday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M. prior to the Mass.

     Bill was born on July 9, 1931 on his family’s farm north of Lidderdale.  He was the son of Harry and Hulda (Fricke) Wenck.   He grew up on the farm and attended country school. He was married to Bernice Wiederien on December 28, 1950 at St. Cecilia Cathedral in Omaha.  The couple made their home on a farm southeast of Lidderdale.  They moved to Carroll in 1956.  Bill was employed as a route driver for Lange’s Dairy which later became Anderson – Erickson Dairy for over 40 years.  In retirement, Bill worked part time at the Carroll Rec Center, helped several local farmers, and took care of his acreage north of Carroll. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, gardening, taking walks with his wife, being a faithful Catholic, and praying the Rosary.
     Bill is survived by his wife Bernice of Carroll of 73 years; his five children and their families: Sharon Bowman (Gary) of Coon Rapids, Tom Wenck (Patty) of Papillion, NE, Jan Leist (Charlie) of Clive, IA, Dan Wenck (Cindy) of Omaha, and Joann Sapp (Tim) of Carroll; seventeen grandchildren; forty two great-grandchildren; two sisters: Lola Wiederien of Glidden and Violet Boell of Carroll; a brother John Wenck (Jane) of Carroll; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
     Bill was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Hulda Wenck; his father and mother-in-law Leo and Florence (Conroy) Wiederien; a great-grandson Carson Bowman in 2012; a great-granddaughter Savannah Wenck Yetts in 2013; a sister Oleva Kennebeck (Frank); a brother-in-law William Boell; a sister-in-law Rita Kennebeck (Joseph); a brother-in-law Gene Wiederien; a brother-in-law Paul Wiederien (Evelyn); and a brother-in-law Richard “Dick” Wiederien.
