Robert “Bob” Brown of Glidden

Robert “Bob” Douglas Brown, age 70, of Glidden, IA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 26, 2024.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, November 1, 2024 at Grace Church near Carroll (20949 Olympic Ave.) with Rev. Patrick Henderson officiating.  Casket bearers will be Shane Moes, Tyler Moes, Trenton Moes, and Bob’s son James Brown.  Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden.

Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 5 – 7 P.M. on Thursday.  The casket will be moved to Grace Church at 9:30 A.M. on Friday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M. prior to the service.

Bob was born on December 14, 1953 in Colorado Springs, CO.  He was the son of James Douglas and Doris Jean (Chantry) Brown.  His family moved to Houston, TX, when he was five years old.  They then lived in Utah, Atlantic, IA, Glidden, IA, and then to Carroll.  Bob was married to Patricia Ann Brown on May 14, 1977 in Carroll.  To this union one son was born, James Brown.  The couple divorced and Bob was later remarried to Kathy Walker in 2002 in Clinton, IA.  Bob and Kathy have made their home in Glidden.  Bob was a mechanic at Iowa Small Engine and Jerry’s Standard in his younger years.  He became co-owner of the Carroll Cycle Center in 1988 and retired in 2012.  In retirement he drove a school bus for Carroll and Glidden schools.  Bob and Kathy have lived as Santa and Mrs. Clause for many years. Bob was in the Boy Scout’s since childhood and attained Eagle Scout. He was Scout Master of Troop #105 in Carroll and started Cub Scout Pack #114 in Glidden with Kathy.  He was also a member of H.O.G. (Harley Owner’s Group). He enjoyed shooting skeet and trap.  Most of all spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

Bob is survived by his wife Kathy of Glidden; a son James Brown (Nicole) of Audubon; two step-daughters: Amber Sorensen of Emmetsburg, IA, and Desirae Boggs (Chris) of Carroll; twelve grandchildren: Gracie, Jimmy, Molly, Davin, Joy, Annie, Lanie, Jessie, Shelbie, Kaydence, Waylon, and Whitley; a brother Bill Brown of Carroll; a sister Bonnie Jensen of Hawaii; a sister-in-law Jennifer Teems (Michael) of Tallahassee, FL; a brother-in-law Thomas Walker (Bonnie) of Orlando, FL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents James and Doris Brown; and his father and mother-in-law Tommy and Loretta Walker.
